Reader Resources
Reader Resources
Companion material for the Made Easy books: the current official link, the setting that moved, the step that works differently now.
The books carry the full explanation. This part of the site exists for what happens afterward, when an app is redesigned or a service changes how something works. The aim is not to repeat a book here, but to help you find the right current answer and get on with the trip.
This page is the starting point. As companion material is added, it will be organized by book and topic so you can get to the current answer quickly.
Start With Your Book
The simplest way to find companion material is by the book you are reading. Each book gets its own short address, chosen so it is easy to type from a printed page or repeat out loud. The Travel Technology hub is live now. The Cruise hub is planned and not available yet.

What You'll Find Here
Companion material will be organized into five areas.
Prepare Your Phone
Getting a phone ready before a trip: backups, offline preparation, making sure you can still reach important accounts, and the settings worth checking while you are still at home.
Stay Connected
eSIMs, physical SIMs, mobile data, roaming and Wi-Fi: the connectivity decisions worth making before you leave, and how to handle them once you are away.
Stay Safer
Public Wi-Fi, account security, the scams that turn up around travel, preparing for a lost or stolen phone, and the online safety habits that are worth the small effort.
Apps, Streaming & AI
Travel apps worth having, preparing them to work offline, realistic expectations for streaming, and practical uses for AI tools along with the situations where they should not be trusted without checking.
Official Help
Some questions are best answered by whoever controls the device or service. This area will point to the appropriate current documentation from Apple, Google and Android, mobile carriers, cruise lines and other providers.
Sometimes the Best Answer Is the Official One
When Apple, Google, a carrier or a cruise line controls a setting, they also control when it changes. Their own documentation is updated the day it moves. A copy of those instructions kept anywhere else starts drifting out of date immediately.
So where an official page already explains something clearly, this site will send you there rather than rewrite it. What gets written here instead is the part that is genuinely useful: which page you actually need, and what to do with the answer once you have it.
Technology Changes
Apps get redesigned. Settings are renamed, or moved to a different screen. Carriers and services adjust how something works, sometimes with very little warning. A printed book cannot revise itself when that happens.
That is what Technology Updates will be for: corrections, changed instructions, significant interface changes, and anything else that affects information printed in the books.
Using the Book and the Site Together
Use the book for the full explanation. Use the site when something has changed, when you need a current official link, or when a companion resource makes the next step easier.
